Petrology is at the forefront of spoolbase operations world wide.
Petrology started working in flowline spoolbases in 1995. Since then, the company has been involved in the upgrade, development and design of spoolbases around the world covering both permanent and temporary (moveable) facilities.
As managers of the overall spoolbase operation, Petrology is ideally placed to design the infrastructure to support the production processes for Welding, Non Destructive Testing and Field Joint Coating.
A good example of this philosophy is Subsea 7’s Luanda spoolbase in Angola. Petrology designed and built the firing line working stations based on a modular concept. These station modules were shipped to Angola and became the production facilities for building approximately 100km of pipelines. Petrology trained the spoolbase workforce in beveling, welding and pipe handling. The work was completed with a repair rate below 1%.
As part of it’s Spoolbase Management capability, Petrology delivers all of the following activities
- Welding
- NDE
- Engineering Criticality Assessments
- AUT Validation
- Field Joint Coating
- Pipe Handling
- Pigging and Gauging
- Pipeline handling systems
- Vessel Tie In
- Process optimization
- Workforce training and qualification – all disciplines
